General Information

Shiremoor Primary School is a co-educational school catering for children from 3 + in the Nursery and thereafter from 4-11 years in the main school.

The school became a Primary school in September 2000 holding Beacon Status from 1999 until 2004 , became a National Support School in September 2007 and in September 2011 was designated as a Teaching School.

The school offers excellent teaching and learning facilities. There is a spacious Early Years Foundation Stage Unit which enables Nursery and Reception children to have access to high quality indoor and outdoor learning opportunities and ensures seamless transition for children from Nursery to school.

Key Stage 1 classrooms are large and airy and have doorways leading directly outside adjacent to outdoor play equipment. Key Stage 2 classrooms are located in the two storey building, which also has a Computer Suite.

There is a team approach to caring for all of our children and individual learning needs are identified and incorporated into all aspect of planning for both curriculum content and delivery.

The school grounds provide an excellent outdoor learning environment for the children. We have an internal yard ‘The Quadrangle’, which is a designated play area for Reception children.
The school has access to the excellent facilities offered in the adjacent adventure playground which extends the learning opportunities offered from the climbing obstacles in the school grounds.
